PLEASE TURN THE HEAT DOWN to 65 degrees.
Santa and Mrs Claus are in full velvet costumes add that to the number of people in your venue and
that will be enough to keep everyone toasty.
*1) HAVE YOUR CAMERA READY!
Be sure to have film, memory, batteries, video tape, disc, and anything necessary to take pictures.
BE SURE ALL BATTERIES ARE CHARGED.
*2) RESERVE A SPECIAL PARKING SPOT FOR SANTA!
It should be as close as possible to where he will be appearing. Remember Santa is a senior citizen and if he has to park down the street or around the block and has to walk all the way to your house or office, he may be a bit winded or exhausted when he arrives. Also remember that he is wearing a heavy velvet suit, which is "hot" even in December. If the visit is at your home leave an open space at the end of the driveway with a box , a sawhorse, or a chair. Have a little fun and put a sign up saying
RESERVED FOR SANTAor REINDEER PARKING.
If your event is at a hall or hotel you can arrange for Santa to valet park or use loading area. Again you can mark the space with a
fun sign. This will ensure that Santa is fresh and ready to bring joy to you and your guests.
*3) HAVE YOUR GIFTS READY!
Santa can carry in one bag of gifts for your children or guests. They should be WELL LABELED; we suggest a black marking pen and that you write directly on the wrapping as tags could fall off. All gifts should fit into a 35 gallon trash bag.
Any more and it may be too heavy or awkward for Santa to carry. We all know that Santa's "Magic Bag" (the one that holds tons of toys and only weighs ten pounds) only works on Christmas Eve. If you have more than one bag please coordinate
with Santa as to how they will be brought in or arrange for them to be near his seat.
*4) HAVE A STURDY CHAIR FOR SANTA TO SIT IN!!
Foldingchairs, plastic chairs or low chairs (the kind you sink into) are NOT good.. Santa usually likes a chair that is sturdy and stable. A good straight backed dining chair usually works well. Santa likes to sit upright or on the edge of the chair. He should be able to sit comfortably and hold a child on each knee.
*5) PLACE THE CHAIR NEAR YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE OR A HOLIDAY DISPLAY!
Place the chair in front of a fireplace with stockings hanging or use another festive backdrop. Your photos will have more impact with a festive background. Place a wreath, a few Christmas cards, or even your child's holiday drawings as a background to make your pictures more personal. Place the chair at least a foot or two from the backdrop to allow for group pictures.
*6) GET EVERYONE TOGETHER BEFORE SANTA ARRIVES!
Timing is everything, as Santa may only be there for a set amount of time. If everyone is scattered throughout the house or venue you will lose valuable time. You can coordinate with Santa depending on the number of guest and he can call
when he is 5 minutes or so away. This is your cue to start gathering your guests. If there is a large number of children please have a "helper " to assist Santa. Preferably someone who is familiar with the children.
*7) PLEASE HAVE A SMALL PACKAGE OF WIPES AVAILABLE FOR THOSE "STICKY" SITUATIONS.
Santa and Mrs. Claus try to look good for your event and often have others to follow so PLEASE assist them in looking their best by keeping the sticky hands and faces clean. A small pack of baby wipes or other non chlorine wipes will be a big help.
*8) THINK ABOUT PHOTOS WITH EVERYONE!!!
Of course teenagers may think it childish to have a picture with Santa, but Santa will gladly stand for a "buddy" picture. Do not forget Grandma and Grandpa either. Take a photo of Grandma hugging Santa or Grandpa on Santa's lap talking about Grandpa's
favorite childhood toy.
*9) IF THERE IS A BALANCE OR PAYMENT DUE SANTA , PLACE IT IN A CHRISTMAS CARD OR ENVELOPE!!
It never looks appropriate to hand Santa cash. As Santa is departing just hand him the envelope and say,
"Thank You Santa and here is a Holiday card from all of us.
